Peking—The Central Committee delegation from the Communist Party (M-L) had a cordial and friendly meeting and then dined with Hua Kuo-feng, the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, on July 20.
The CP(M-L) delegation, led by Chairman Michael Klonsky and Vice-Chairman Eileen Klehr were greeted at the Great Hall of the People by Chairman Hua; Li Hsien-nien, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC; Keng Piao, member of the Central Committee and head of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee; Feng Hsuan, member of the Central Committee and Deputy Head of the Liaison Department; and other leading comrades.
The meeting marked the first time a delegation from the U.S. has met with Chairman Hua, and the event was hailed on the front page of the Chinese press, complete with full-color photographs of the occasion.
The meeting was also an occasion for the two parties to exchange messages of mutual support and solidarity. Speeches were given by Li Hsien-nien and Klonsky which expressed the fraternal feelings of both parties for the revolutionary struggles in each other’s countries.
Comrade Li Hsien-nien’s speech began with a warm welcome for the CP(M-L) delegation. He then summed up the recent developments in the U.S. communist movement, saying, ”The founding of the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) of the U.S. has reflected the aspirations of the proletariat and the working people of the U.S. and also marked a new victory for the Marxist-Leninist movement in the U.S.”
“With great joy,” he said, “we extend our warm congratulations on the founding of the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) of the U.S. and on the election of comrade Klonsky and comrade Klehr as chairman and vice-chairman of the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) of the U.S.”
Regarding the situation within China, Li Hsien-nien said: “Under the leadership of the Party Central Committee headed by the wise leader Chairman Hua, the whole Party and the people of the whole country are carrying out Chairman Mao’s behests, holding high the great banner of Chairman Mao and grasping the key link in running the country well. They are penetratingly exposing and criticizing the ’gang of four’ to distinguish between correct and incorrect lines, and grasping simultaneously the three great revolutionary movements of class struggle, the struggle for production and scientific experimentation. As a result, a vigorous new-leap-forward situation has emerged.”
Li Hsien-nien emphasized that “the current international situation is still characterized by great disorder under heaven and the situation remains excellent.
The factors for both war and revolution are growing. The two hegemonic powers of the U.S. and the Soviet Union are contending fiercely and the focus of their contention is Europe. Soviet social-imperialism, in particular, is engaged in frenzied arms expansion and war preparation. It stretches out its hands everywhere to seek expansion and perpetrate aggression. It is more dangerous. But the general trend of the international situation is still developing in a direction favorable to the people of various countries and unfavorable to the two superpowers.”
He concluded by saying: “We are confident that so long as they persevere in struggle, dare to fight and be good at fighting, the peoples of various countries will surely win final victory.”
Comrade Li Hsien-nien then expressed the conviction that “the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) of the U.S. will surely continue to achieve new successes in its fight against the monopoly capitalist class at home and the two hegemonic powers, by integrating the universal truth of Marxism-Leninism with the concrete revolutionary practice of its own country, going deep among “the masses and boldly arousing the masses.”
Chairman Klonsky’s speech expressed the greetings of the CP(M-L) to Chairman Hua, Li Hsien-nien and the other members of the CPC. He said: “We hail the great victory of the people, led by the Communist Party and its wise leader Chairman Hua, in smashing the ’gang of four’ in one swift blow.
“This was not only a victory for the people of China, but for the whole international working class and communist movement. It was a victory in defending socialism against an attempt at capitalist restoration as well as in defending the purity of Marxism-Leninism against revisionism.”
He pointed out: “As a Marxist-Leninist party in one of the two superpowers, and recognizing our responsibility to lead the struggle to topple the U.S. imperialist ruling class, we are determined as well to make a contribution to the worldwide struggle against the two superpowers, the U.S. and Soviet social-imperialism, the main enemies of the peoples of the world.”
Klonsky stressed: “Chairman Mao’s brilliant teachings on the ’three worlds’ is a scientific application of class analysis to today’s world conditions. This thesis clearly defines friends and enemies and isolates the two superpowers, while uniting the world’s peoples.
“In the world today, the growing contention and wild arms expansion of the two superpowers are leading to an inevitable world war.
“The Soviet social-imperialists in particular are the most dangerous of the two and the main source of war. They must be ruthlessly exposed and stripped of their phony ’socialist’ mask.
“While the path is difficult, the future is very bright and the peoples of the world will certainly win out in the struggle against imperialism and hegemonism.
Following the speeches, the delegation was given a banquet and the comrades of the two fraternal parties drank toasts to the continuing development and growth of the revolutionary friendship and iron unity of the Communist Party (M-I) of the U.S. and the Communist Party of China, as well as between the people and the working class of the two countries.
